Tips for Saving Money while Eating Healthy

We are always looking for ways to save money while eating healthy. We found two of the most effective ways to accomplish this is meal planning (see our post from last week with an example!) and cooking at home.  Eating out is expensive and when we food shop for a week based on our food plan, we are less likely to order dinner out when we have all the food we need at home.  Instead of buying lunch everyday at work, we prepare our lunch for the week on Sundays (I love Tom's recipe for chicken, quinoa, and vegetables - we'll post later).

We have been able to find more and more organic and whole foods at our local super market which we have found to be, in general, more affordable than a health food store. 

We also make our own coffee (Melissa) and tea (Tom) in the morning and bring water bottles to work and refill throughout the day. 

Little things add up, and you will probably find yourself eating more healthy and drinking more water too!
